"We have received a letter from FIBA, who said that our national team is suspended," said Sergei Chernov, honorary chairman of the Russian basketball federation. "So even the membership of Russia in the FIBA temporarily frozen. This case will be announced next August 8-9," said Chernov. This sentence makes the Russian basketball team missed the European Championship in September 2015 and the subsequent summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016. The new FIBA will lift the sentence if the problems in the management body of RBF has been resolved.
